Mineral Makeup Pros and Cons (part 1 of 2)

Women are getting excited over the new cosmetic trend, mineral makeup.  Actually this is not a anew trend, these cosmetic discovery has been used centuries ago by ancient women.  Cleopatra used this kind of makeup to accentuate her beauty during her time.

Why are there much hype over mineral makeup?  What are the advantages and disadvantages of this kind of makeup?

The list is long.  But let’s start with the fact that mineral makeup is free from additives like chemicals and preservatives.  This kind of makeup comes from natural minerals which are sterilized and pulverized, they are mixed with inorganic colourings.

Since it is chemical free, the skin pore can breathe freely.  Chemical based cosmetics tend to block the pores causing certain skin problems like acne, skin’s dryness, rosacea and other problems.  With pores blocked, what happens is that bacteria are encouraged to grow on the skin leading to skin disorders.

Mineral makeup contain ingredients that improves the skin. There are minerals which primarily protects the skin against the dangerous ultraviolet rays from the sum.  There are also some minerals which are naturally anti-inflammatory, like zinc and magnesium.

Aside from this, with traditional makeup, some women with oily faces end up with oilier ones.  Since traditional makeup can be very oily because of its components, the face tends to double the oiliness sometimes.  But with mineral makeup, there are no oils used in the process creating a glossy but not oily finish.

Women are choosing mineral makeup over traditional ones because of the glow they put into your skin.  Since there are also minerals which helps in hydrating the skin, the face looks more radiant and has a healthy glow.  The wrinkles and other fine lines seem to disappear.
